GTX 1060 reaching 82 degrees but pulling 8K!?

So I was quite shocked to learn that I can actually pull an okay frame rate playing Wreckfest at 8K (two monitors), but my GPU is reaching 82C. Its a blower style card... I've never encountered GPU temperatures like this in my entire life. Is this just too high to be safe for the card? Should I try to hack something together to force more air into the card's shroud?

That's hot, but not thermal throttling hot, so no cause for concern. Blower cards do not have the cooling capacity of twin or triple fan cards, the only real benefit is that they vent hot air out the back instead of into the case. Prolonged high temps will degrade the card with time, this is inevitable, so if you can add a fan to the case to promote intake airflow might as well.

Guess you haven’t seen many cards. But it’s fine for bad profiles. This the plastic blower? Depending on the card you can swap to other stock coolers and improve that quite a bit if you actually want to.

Max temp for the GTX 1060 is 92c. 

Like JM and Mick said, blower style coolers tend to run warmer.

Thanks! Yes, I've not used many of these blower style cards for gaming. I was hoping to overclock it some to hopefully pull some additional frames in 12K (agian, for playing Wreckfest), but so much for that... GPU would probably melt through the tower like a Fukushima reactor. Ironically the CPU stayed at a nice 50C :)
