HDR 16:9 or WQHD?

Sgkpt

Hey guys,

I have a 3700x and a 2080(non super non ti). I'm currently using an Acer predator X34P (IPS WQHD 34" 120hz). The two problems I have are: difficult to drive modern games at 3440x1440 over 60 fps even with a 2080 (rdr2, ghost recon). And that the color accuracy is lower than more modern nano IPS models. I play mostly single player RPG games; rdr2, Witcher 3, far cry, etc. Don't do any competitive multiplayer anymore. I like high refresh (at least 100) but not for competition purposes. I'm split between going down to a 2560x1440 display and which one. WQHD is nice but I play on my 16:9 laptop and don't really feel it's a lot worse. The gain in performance would be nice, and models like the 27LG850 Have much better colors, especially DCI-P3 performance. However only the PG27UQ and it's acer cousin have real HDR1000, and that sounds appealing. Of course 4k brings back the performance penalty but I could render games at 1440 and still use the full hdr support. Right now I have a warranty on my x34p and can get $630 of in-store credit at microcenter for it. The 27GL850 Is $450 and a PG27UQ is $1200. Don't really wanna spend 1200 but I'm open to options. Also open to other models of course.

All good. Main question is should I use wqhd even though I don't have great framerates, or go down to 27" 1440p with better fps and better colors?

I would prefer playing games at 1440p because you can get more fps, You should get the second one.
