Multiple Monitors for laptop

BlueMotionZ4

Hello guys,

I have 2 monitors ( one 1080p that has only a hdmi port and one 4k that has both hdmi and displayport, both 60fps), I want to connect them both to my laptop that has only one hdmi port. What hardware/software do I need?

p.s. I don't want to set them in "extend" mode, not "duplicate"

Thanks

Does you laptop have any additional video out port?
e.g. VGA, (mini) Displayport or USB Type C with displayport alt mode (can be recognized by it having a USB type C port, with a small Displayport or Thunderbolt logo).

Otherwise you would need to get an active adapter/hub/dock for video out.

I have used some Startech docks in the past, but they weren't exactly stable if you move your laptop away a ton.

You can look into a dock with multiple video ports, or a dock with one video port, which means your other monitor has to connect to your laptop directly.

Keep in mind a lot of docks don't support 4K resolutions.
