Only 7,9GB out of 16GB RAM usable? + i7 3770 vs i5 4690

Ilegator

I had a R7 2700 which didn't work (PC would't boot) because it had two broken pins. I fixed it soldering two new pins.

I tested it two mobos and in both cases I only have 7,9GB usable RAM. However, it still gets dual channel.

Overall it works just fine. Is there anything I can try? Thank you!

PD: which CPU is better for gaming? i7 3770 (non K) or i5 4690 (non K).

I used this ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 2x8GB CL15

Tested in Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H V2 (updated BIOS) and Bazooka V2 (unupdated BIOS).

try and redo the soldering, and recheck the other pins and see if the arent any other bent or missing pins

Do that^ and also check the back of the motherboard for damage. Mine has damage on the back so as a result, its stuck in with 2 slots working, and those in single channel (luckily the RAM overclocks to  2200MHz).

All the pins are fine and straight. I don't know if it's worth the risk to redo the soldering.

depends, do you need more that 8 gigs of ram?

if not and you are afraid of messing it up and breaking it, then its probably best to keep it like that and try to resell it
