10gb ethernet not working on ASUS MOBO

Hey All,

I can use the standard ethernet port fine ,but when plugging into the 10gb on my MOBO (Zenith Extreme II) I can't connect to the internet. I am using a standard Cat 6a cable to connect to the net, but nothing is working?

Any ideas?

Make sure you install the proper drivers for the 10 Gigabit port :) Usually found on your mobos page

This.

And secondly don't expect any difference if the rest of your network is only 1gbit.

The rest of the network is 10gb with 10 gb internet. With a 10gb switch.

Driver won't install BTW.

Well then there's your problem, lol.

Have you tried rebooting first?

If you did, maybe try removing the other NICs driver first (probably some Intel thingy?) and then install the 10g one again.

I'm not sure if DDU can do ethernet drives or only graphics drivers removal, so you might have to do it manually

  • 2 years later...

Stumbled onto this troubleshooting a similar problem on a Z690 Asus ProArt.

Under Win11 drivers, Asus only lists the Intel I225 Gigabit (for a port that's supposed to be 2.5Gb, but... after driver install link speed is 2500 Mbps). Installing that did BSOD my system, require a safe mode reboot, and Windows Security is complaining about my memory integrity now...

BUT: under Win10 drivers, Asus has both the Win10 and Win11 versions of the Marvell Ethernet Driver. Separate cards for separate ports, and the 10G port showed up as an unknown ethernet in device manager. After installing the driver v3.1.6.0, second ethernet port is recognized and reports link speed 1410 Mbps. Measured speed on iperf3 running client <> Microtik 10G switch <> server is 9.04 Gbps.
