ideas for leftover parts

i have a few leftover parts, an intel i5-3350 quad core CPU, Intel DQ77MK Motherboard, and 8gb 1333mhz ddr3 (2x4) memory.

i was just wondering if any of you guys had any ideas i could use it all for as its not really worth selling

is it worth spending the £50-70 GBP and building a backup PC? or a PC to have on 24/7 for "server" use?

if you guys have any ideas or reccomendations please let me know

You could have a web server or a vpn server (so you could connect from outside to your network), maybe music/video server to watch your content from anywhere etc...

While I am loathe to mention this, what about something like FreeNAS? (my personal preference is a dedicated NAS like QNAP, or ReadyNAS, but the roll-your-own is quite popular here)
