Buy a new monitor or wait 3080ti？

My old monitor was broken, I want to change a PG35VQ but I realize the "GTC" is coming soon, may be the new "Ampere" gpu will come with it.

 

So if I wait serveral month, maybe I can buy a 3080Ti and same monitor with a good price？

If i buy this monitor right now, my titan x pascal can't run 200fps at 3440*1440 resolution, and I have no money to change graphic card

you could also game in 16:9 and have a tad less pixels to render for the meantime until you blow all your money (and probably your soul if Nvidias pricing trend continues) on the 3080 ti

The 3000 series is coming this summer, that's pretty much guaranteed.

I doubt the price of the monitor will fall much, they're not exactly things that decrease in value over time like a CPU that gets a yearly release.

If you're only waiting hoping to get a cheaper monitor, just buy now.

You don't have to hit the maximum refresh rate of a monitor to get an excellent experience with it. The monitor, really, is one of the things you should spend the most on, as they can often move through several builds. Too many people cheap out on the monitor, just like too many people cheap out on the peripherals.

Does anyone? No.

You shouldn't presume that's all his money There's loads of people that can easily afford a 3080Ti. In the grand scheme of things, they're not that expensive.

Though there are exponentially more people that can't, and the price to performance gets drastically worse with each generation. Sure if you can afford it why not I'm just wondering about the loads of questions around should i wait for the 3080ti on the forums lately - no one knows how it performs nor is it even somewhat reasonably priced.

 

But I guess my line is way lower what I'm willing to spend on something like that like 99% of the people as I struggled to justify the 2060 super and never saw a real improvement after 60fps - 30fps i can tell but nothing more than that.

Mmmm not really true, no. On this forum? Sure. It's a younger audience. However, as a whole, most people can afford $1,000 for a GPU if they wanted it.

The highest tier always has the worst price to performance. That's not what that tier is for. It's for people that want the absolute best.

It'll be priced like a flagship card. People shouldn't be surprised by this. Plus, as PC gaming gains popularity, and there's more people interested, the price will go up.

My RTX 2080 ti does about 120fps on most games at 3440 X 1440 but RDR 2 only averages about 90fps with the settings I like. I only expect a 3080 ti to get up to 144fps on easy to run AAA titles at 3440 X 1440.

 

I am not a fan of the PG35VQ. It is too small, low res and too expensive.  I prefer 38" at 3840 X 1600 as a minimum since It is a lot better for non game applications and it does not feel hight impaired like 34"/35" 21:9 monitors do(I own one).    

 

LG has a nice 38" 3840 X 1600 144hz monitor(38GL950G-B)for about $1800.  It does not have HDR 1000 but HDR on Windows 10 does need work.  I use a 55" B9 OLED TV on my other gaming PC so I use that for non Windows HDR content. 

 

Getting a G-sync compatible LG OLED TV might be a good stopgap until the 3080 ti comes out. They are only around $1300 and you can always stick it in a bedroom after.  Mine has worked out so well that I am replacing all my 4k and 1440p monitors with them. I am just waiting for LGs 48" version to come out.  I am keeping my 38" ultrawide and I will replace that when a 48/49" 21:9 4k ultrawide comes out. If ever.
