SSD and HDD

GoodGame

Hi,

I will be doing my very 1st build and i will be using the Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD 1TB  for the OS and games.

Am i able to use a 2.5 SATA SDD ( Team T-Force Delta MAX ARGB SSD 1TB ) for the coolness of it :) as a secondary

or do i need to use the regular 3.5 HDD.

And also what does this mean as it came up on my PCPARTPICKER

Note:The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled

The motherboard i chose is ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming Motherboard

If you dont mind losing a SATA port, sure.

RGB LEDs tend to heat up the whole thing though, Kingston one got so bad that it overheats easily.

You can use any drive as a secondary drive.

You lose a sata port using a m.2 nvme drive, but that won't matter here.

Id probably get a slower m.2 nvme drive for games, like a 2tb 660p or sx8200, the extra foe the 970 evo plus isn't worth it for games and os.

My setup is a medium sized M.2 NVME SSD (256GB) for OS and things I need to load quickly.

I then have a SATA 1TB SSD for steam library for those sweet load times.

Finally I have SATA 4TB HDD that is for bulk storage of videos, photos etc.

I still have a couple of SATA ports spare for when I need another drive, I have a spare SSD mount slot too but I gave that SSD to my parents to revitalise their old macbook.
