Or if you're just going for a fully modular PSU under $120, then i would recommend the Corsair RM750, Corsair RMX 750, Seasonic FOCUS Plus Gold 750 watt, and EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750 watt

Don't worry, i don't think 750 watts is overkill. I (sadly) own an Alienware Aurora R8 with i7 9700k and 2080 super with 850 watts which I got for $1500 from a promo code

Sadly? The computer I am building Saturday has worse specs by some margin (3600x, 1660 super). Even if you think the price was too much it's still a beast.

Also to answer the question corsair RM PSU's are good. Just wait for a sale.

My Build (5800X3D, RTX 3070)

disclaimer: i probably don't know what I'm talking about but I try to give the best advice I can

That is an efficiency rating. Aayys nothing about the quality of the PSU.

Seasonic FOCUS Plus Gold 750

Keep in mind the focus fx has issues on overload that are minor, but worth avoiding.

Issues on overload and in general, not that great of a PSU to begin with.

Companies recommend overkill PSUs due to incidents were PSUs arent good enough to handle transients, or mostly just because group regulated unit exists. Such units may not do their rated wattage om the 12v rail.

you can get by using the cxm.if you want an upgrade, the straight power 11, rmx or bitfenix whisper M 550/650w would be examples to look at.

It is. You can run that system on a good 450w for gaming, and a good 550w for full load operation.

650w gives you headroom to run everything you want on the consumer plattforms. (550w can more or less run the same in gaming workloads),
