The 27 GPU meme machine

This is the start of a long term project, (it might take me two years or so).

So what am I doing?

- I am building a machine with 27 separate gpu's (I am counting my on board graphics as 1) all running on 1 PC ( 1 CPU and 1 MOBO).

How on earth do I intend to do that?

- Its surprisingly easy with a Asus B250 Mining Expert i can fit 13 graphics cars as long as i mix AMD and Nvidia.

13 card + 1 IGPU is 14 not 27 Right?

- Ah yes my friend, but i am not putting normal cards in this nightmare, or even vaguely new cards no i intend to go to a lang long forsaken by our corporate overlords, The Dual GPU Card.

13 Dual GPU Cards !?

- Yep.

Really !!???

- Yes Sir.

But Why on earth would I do that !!!!???

- Because I don't think any one else has, Because i think it will be funny to work with, Because the MOBO was bought from a friend stupid cheap and finally because i like collecting old hardware especially Dual GPU cards.

So how does the build look right now?

- bit are on order currently

Specs as of 19/02/2020

- i3-7350k

- Asus B250 Mining Expert

- Cooler master Hyper 212 evo

- 8gb Crucial Ballistic sport 2666mhz

- PNY 240gb ssd

- Tosiba 3tb HDD

- Corsair RMi 1000 (this is only the first power supply more will come)

- Thermaltake Core p3 (until there are too many cards and power supplys to fit, then i will build something custom)

Graphics cards so far

- Nvidia GTX295

Disclaimers

- Yes i know its stupid and probably a wastes of money

- Yes i know it will suck in games

- Yes i know it won't be particularly good for anything else

- If your new to custom PC's this is pretty much the opposite of the right way to do things

P.S.

If you know of any cards with more that 2 gpu's i am definitely interested. (excluding ancient Voodoo stuff)

P.P.S

Thanks for reading, i will be updating this thread when stuff happens.

I don't even know where to begin with this, but I honestly doubt it will work, as the CPU most likely wouldn't be able to handle that many GPUs, but I am morbidly fascinated with the concept.

Just be careful to not cause any ruptures in space-time when doing it.

there will probably be more Vram on the cards than there is RAM in the system.

If a PC build is every going to destroy the universe it will be this one.

if you are on a budget, i would try to get some used GTX 590 or 690, or the Radeon HD 6990 and 7990, they are all rather affordable.  when I say affordable, i mean in comparison to the Titan Z, or the Pro Duo :) lmao

I hate to inform you, a SUPERCOMPUTER has already been made with 40 GPUs.  However...  That WAS a supercomputer.  So... I think you would be setting a record for a NOT supercomputer

I mean do super computers really count as single computer, most are just tightly networked servers that talk at huge speed.

to my knowledge this will be the most GPU's for a single CPU and on one MOBO with 1 memory controller and one NIC.

i have just read this its quite interesting, however considering the state of modern GPU's i think his might count as only one GPU, especially considering its all on one bit of silicon.

Update.

First part has arrived!

Here's the video Here

Second update

the Meme Machine (as it will be called from here on out) is getting my old Hitachi HDD from my main rig not the new Toshiba

Third

HaHa all you who thought this was just a silly idea that nothing will come of

Finally

sorry for the video and audio quality it was filmed on my Nikon d800 (i.e. its and 2012 DSLR (the first nikon with video i believe)) with onboard mic, and i am kind of sick.

Probably a much better idea to use metal. Much less flammable. Also, you might need to see if you can find some singularity-proof metal for that as well.

Pretty sure there is some cardinal sin you are committing by building this...monstrosity.
