RAM usage problem with almost new laptop

Im new so im not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i have an issue with ram usage on my new laptop.

My laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad S340 Win10 Pro) has 8gb ram and for some reason it's using 6-7gb of it when im not eve doing anything. The fans are also going loud constantly. I've had the laptop for almost two months now. The ram usage was way lower just a few days ago and the fans didn't ramp up. I've also followed a tutorial and changed some settings in regedit but didn't help. 

It's kind of urgent since i have to use hyper-v in school and it doesn't let me because i don't have memory left. What could cause this?

Chrome is a notorious memory hog. How many tabs in Chrome are you using?

Check for updates, it may just download them while you noticed that.
