Ram for MSI B450 Tomahawk Max?

Go to solution Solved by lucaswilliam,

Looking at pcpartpicker, MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX motherboard under "See All Builds", filtered atx cases.   I found four reviews on the first page of builds with the same G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jBZzK8/gskill-ripjaws-v-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c16d-16gvkc

"G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 is the best price/value RAM at the moment (CAD 92.99). Despite it's not in the QVL for this motherboard, it perfectly works with default XMP profile and achieves 3600MHz."  Source: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/8ztgXL

"was best priced 16gb 3600 ram runs at rated speed" Source: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/Yyjypg

"Out of the box it ran at smth around 2133. In bios i selected its XMP profile and it ran at 3600 no problem. Simply need to select the xmp profile and youll be all set!" Source: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/m2HhP6

"I really like this RAM. It runs at the advertised speed, doesn't freak out like some other memory does sometimes, and looks really good with my motherboard. It delivers buttery smooth frame rates in any game I play, and has no problem with anything I throw at it. Plus, the high speed is nice for my R5 3600, helping it increase performance. I was able to get this kit on sale for $70, so if it ever happens again, this is definitely the way to go for Ryzen builds.Source: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/xVsZxr

Also, you can check  amazon reviews https://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-Ripjaws-PC4-28800-CL16-19-19-39-F4-3600C16D-16GVKC/product-reviews/B07X8DVDZZ/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewopt_kywd?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews&pageNumber=1&filterByKeyword=msi

Hope it helps!

I'm trying to finish up my R5 3600 build and I'm googling my ass off looking at QVLs trying to figure out which ram to go with.

From what I've seen so far, I might go with the below ram, but it's a little more  than I want to spend. I'm trying to find 3200 CL 14 or 3600 CL 16 for around $100 or less. If I need to spend more than $100 I will, but I'd prefer not to because I'm poor. Right now I'm looking on G.Skill and Corsair websites. The corsair in my price range is either 3600 CL 18 or 3200 CL16, I don't want CL18. G.skill lists only 3200 ram on their website, all are CL16 other than the below ram which is CL14. Any recommendations other than this ram?

Ram is going up in price it seems.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

This is the best priced 3200 CL16 G.skill, it is not on the MSI QVL but it is 100% compatible.  I bought the same kit but was faulty and assumed it was not compatible but the replacement works perfectly with a 7 hours of memtesting86 with zero errors, it is compatible with a Tomahawk Max and best price/performance in regards to G.skill, the CL14 equivalent is almost double the price but the speeds feel exactly the same;

This is the one I was originally looking. Not sure how I missed these reviews. I'll stick with this. Thanks
