what im trying to do is set up a vm on my server as my main rig, pass through a dedicated nic, usb hub and a graphics card.

i only have the nic installed and its not letting me pass it through to the vm, and yes i have followed the instructions and enabled all the things, been trying to get it to work for the last 2 days and no joyScreenshot_20200216-073129_JuiceSSH.thumb.jpg.f4c62827ad11b23df263f86f0bc1ccad.jpg

The nic is on it's own group so that shouldn't cause any issues

And it's an ho dl380 g7 2x x5650 bunch of ram spread evenly across both chips

is the nic used by anouther drive?

Also why passthough the nic, use a virtual switch.

Just tonight I added section 9. Hardware Pass-though to my PROXMOX Guide.

One of the things I struggled with was that during the enabling of IOMMU groups within PROXMOX they tell you to run:

pve-efiboot-tool refresh

saying it's the equivalent to:

update-grub

Well the former didn't work, when I ran the latter PROXMOX enabled the IOMMU groups like I wanted.

I'd rather use a dedicated line for it rather than go through multiple drivers and what not, maybe I'm just weird like that though

The overhead is very lower, and id really just use virtual nics, works better for almost all uses.

Did you try it with the gpu?

Is Iommu reported as on in the boot log?

I'm guessing it is, dmesg -H is showing dmar: iommu enabled

Also just tried out the gpu, I've blacklisted all the drivers that its reporting to use and still no joy
