Minecraft mods running terribly on a good pc

Teknet

I started a modded minecraft world with my friends, but my game was unplayably laggy, while it ran fine on on a friend's machine that was using intigrated graphics. I have a ryzen 7 2700 and radeon rx 590, 16 gb of ram. I can't find anything online that solves the problem, and I'm kind of stuck. any help is apreciated.

Edit: the issue isn't with the server, I'm having the same issues in singleplayer
