Hi, should I upgrade to a higher res and refresh rate monitor?
im currently using a 1080p 27' 75 hz monitor.

 

PC specs:
cpu: i9 9900k

gpu: Msi gaming x trio rtx 2080ti]

ram: G skill 32gb DDR4

 

I still want to play games in ultra settings in which I can achieve in 1080 resolution
If I will upgrade to 2k 144hz , do i need to lower my video settings?

Your entire system is a waste with that monitor.

I run one RTX 2080 ti at 3840 X 1600 75hz and the only game so far that runs below 75hz with the settings I like is RDR 2.

The other I run at 4k 60hz and all games are over 60fps except RDR 2.

 

In tests at 1440p games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider average about 132fps but RDR 2 averages 105fps.

Surprisingly AC:O does the lowest frames at 1440p with 76fps average and 4k at 66fps. Definitely a CPU game.

To maintain max settings and solid frame rates at or very close to the max refresh of the monitor i'd suggest a 120 or 144hz 1440p display.

Depends what your budget is.

I'd go for at least 2560x1440 144hz, but an ultrawide is also a choice.
