AMD Ryzen 3700X safe voltage for 4.2 GHz?

i wouldn't really bother with manual overclocking

Manual OC is fine. And yes 1.325V is still low, what cooler and motherboard are you using?

OP, it was confirmed 1.325V is NOT safe for all ryzen chips. Google "Finding Safe Voltage for Ryzen 7" and there's multiple sources that will direct you to finding the safe voltage for your specific chip.

Not to mention I wouldn't recommend OCing Ryzen 3000

1.3v max if you set it to manual... tbh the factory boost algorithm does a really good job of maxing the current and voltage limits before risking damaging the transistors (so you may see 1.47V at idle, but full load drops to around 1.3V), so PBO+AutoOC is always the preferred way to increase speed.

I'm not lol. How is 1.325V unsafe for an R7 3700x? Please explain. Because 1.325V is definitely safe, lots of supporting evidence.

 

I mean I don't really recommend OC'ing Ryzen 3000 either only because it really has no overclocking headroom, but if people want to do it why not, it is an unlocked chip after all. Didn't stop me from going 1.4V on a 4.4GHz OC and testing it out. For longevity purposes enabling PBO on Ryzen Master makes the most sense but nothing wrong with manual OC.

Degradation process starts the day the cpu is turned on. Factory default settings, 100,000 hours life expectancy. 

Increase voltage and heat, lower life expectancy numbers. This does include PBO overclocking also.

Show me evidence that it is safe.

 

It was common belief for a while that 1.325 was a safe voltage for all Ryzen 3k chips. But it's been proven that it is not true. Every chip has a different performance ability, so to find the safe operating voltage for your chip, you need to run P95 Small FTT's, and record your highest voltage hit. That's the safe voltage for your particular CPU. Every CPU is different, some higher, some lower.

 

Someone on reddit, and sacrificed two 3600's to prove this. He ran one on the safe voltage, and one over the safe voltage, and the one that was slightly over, and degraded his CPU in only a month or so. Every chip has a difference safe voltage IOT not degrade the silicone.

Which is stock voltage for 3700X? I want to set voltage manually because it jump up to 1.5V with auto settings and i have higher temperature because of this.

 Leave everything at stock and try setting 1.26V. If that doesn't work (even though it probably will) try 1.275V.

what about more voltage but less heat if you had a better cooler ??

some stock voltages are not safe (even though amd says it's fine), i personally recommend -0.05v offset, don't use a fixed manual voltage.

The numbers generally from my ass. Most electronics are rated 100,000 hours, I do not see any real specification in the white papers with real figures on life expectancy. 

 

More voltage less temps..... No, voltage degrades chips at a certain rate, yes cooler temps helps for sure.

 

So the goal is run cooler to experience less need for voltage because of strictly speaking leakage or reducing it.

 

I can demonstrate how -30c idle and 20c load temps look at 4ghz on Zen+. It's runable 4ghz 1.188v. This is a reduction in leakage and degradation. 

 

So really both voltage and heat go hand and hand. The deterioration begins with the voltage increase, and then the heat follows as a result. Added heat without cooling.

I’m just thinking about my 8700k at 5ghz 1.3v

1.3 is close to stock voltage 

but my temps are 60c load delidded and liquid metal 

 

I heard a lot of people saying high idle voltage does nothing it’s only when chip if full load with high voltage and high heat things start to get bad but running 1.4v but idle is ok because there is no load ?

This 14nm Intel is not 7nm AMD. We cant compare them really.

 

For Ryzen the high voltage does something. It enables high clocked single core boosts. With this effect, thermals are still very low to compare with all core static overclocking while the v-core is forced versus regulated by sensemi.
