Pascal's Last Hurrah - Nvidia MX 330/350 announced

Hinted a few times at CES recently, Nvidia has announced the release of the MX 330 (higher clocked MX250) and MX350 (1050 Mobile) which are still based on 14nm Samsung Pascal Architecture. It will be competing against AMD and intel's iGPUs. Benchmark wise both outperforms the integrated vega 11 and Iris plus G7 graphics.

The NVIDIA GeForce MX-series has traditionally been about having a dGPU that provides a little more muscle power than what traditional iGPUs can offer. Last month, we've reported about NVIDIA's purported plans of introducing the MX330 and MX350 laptop GPUs. Now, we have exclusive first-hand information about the specs of these GPUs and a few preliminary benchmarks. One would expect the next generation MX GPUs to be based on the Turing architecture, but NVIDIA seems to think Pascal is still the way to go in 2020. 
 

Alongside the MX330, NVIDIA will also be introducing the MX350 dGPU. From what we hear, the MX350 is based on the same GP107 Pascal chip as the GTX 1050. However, the MX350 will feature only a 64-bit memory bus and will operate at a lower TGP of 25W. As a result of this, the MX350 offers performance more in line with a GTX 960M than a GTX 1050 itself.

Thoughts: while it says 25 Watts I think a further testing will be needed to see if these rebranded processors still have the juice to beat competitors like the upcoming DGX1 or Navi based APUs.

Did I hear my name ? Yes, Pascal is in fact my irl first name. 

 

Will be interesting to see them in upcoming Ryzen 4000 series Notebooks if vendors decide to go this route.

At least in this scenario, it's a CR1080 vs a GTX1080.

MX150, MX250, and now MX350 which I doubt will be any faster than 8% over the MX150

It's nice that they got good efficiency gains from maxwell 2.0 (960m)? I can see this on light weight laptops like "semi premium notebooks". But what exactly are you trading having a separate GPU compared to a higher clocked/higher CU iGPU, because I know your idle/full power usage battery life is incredibly cut, and the thermal cooling needed to run it.

Is it worth it to have a low power mobile gpu like this?
