What dimensions should I convert my video too?

TheJedi

I have an MKV video and i need to convert the audio codec from DTS to AC3. I am using handbrake to do this. My MKV is a 4K film but the dimensions are not true 4K (3840 x 2160).

Instead the dimensions of the video are 3840 x 1608. I want to know what to put in the dimensions field of the output video. Should I leave it as it is or should i change it to (3840 x 2160).

Please let me know what to do. Thanks

What are you using? I think with ffmpeg you can pass the video through with no encdoing on video, just audio.

If it has blackbars, Id chop those off.

you just encode it as 3840 x 1608 ..... if the screen you play it on isn't that ratio the black bars are added by the player automatically. no need to hard code black bars into the file making it useless on anything not 16:9
