can i move my cpu and SSD to another motherboard and pc case?

i have a i5-7600k with a GeForce GTX 1060 3GB on a small ITX pc but recently i started a project to make a bigger pc and add more storage space for more games and streaming. i bought a CPU for the new rig but the guy sold me a dead cpu and i couldnt contact him so i lost money there. i would like to know if i can move my current cpu to the other motherboard and if so how can install all the proper drivers for it to run smoothly. thank you for your time.

If the motherboard supports the current CPU, yes. Only thing you may need for a new motherboard is bios update. SSD should work as normal.

For instance, just got new cpu and motherboard. Went from an intel i5 4th gen to and ryzen 2700x and everything works fine and still have the same SSD with OS on it working.

You should be reinstalling windows every time the motherboard changes.

Windows will not be happy if you don't.

Really? lol. I never known that one, been running like normal for 2 months now. Only thing I did was I had to re-enter my product key for it.

Well sometimes it works for a while then a few months or years later it tries to isntall a windows update and everything screws up.

But maybe yours just has background problems that you're not noticing, unless you check event viewer often?

Never check but I'll reinstall I have little blue arrows on some folders on my OS drive anyways. So probably need to.

Clearly you have not seen the hundreds of people coming to this forum every year because their windows won't boot or has other problems when they moved their drive to a different motherboard.

Maybe you should do some research.

You should ALWAYS clean install windows on a new motherboard.
