SHould i be worried? Svhost is spying? What is Svhost even

Joe Jackman

You would see a Microphone Icon if svchost was using your mic but instead it's only set to output sound and It's probably related to another program that you have open, try closing programs until it disappears.

All I see is your this-party volume control software has a bug.

Please use Windows 10's Volume Mixer instead to confirm if it is there or not.

If it is there, then it could be a virus or malware of the same name as svchost.exe that is running or it is a malware or virus or program that is using svchost.exe and is playing sound.

If isn't a malware, then it is a probably a program. Close all your programs, including background program until it disappears. Alternatively, disable all startup programs, restart your system, see if it is there, and if not, then start opening your programs one-by-one.

There are some occasions where malware will hide under the naming scheme of svhost. But it usually is easy to spot as it will not be grouped with the others and it will have weird network and cpu usage. Usually Windows Defender/Malwarebytes will detect these. Most likely software glitch making it show up.
