  1. 1. Have I become a total RGB cliche?

    • Not even close. There's a blank spot 3cm to the left that still needs some bling.

So, recently I have been on an evolving and ultimately self-defeating journey that started with a cheap LED strips behind the desk, moved onto a completely new PC build with RGB RAM, AIO, Case Fans, GPU, Motherboard, Lian Li Strimer Cables, RGB Peripherals, and eventually led to a sick and warped obsession with Philips Hue.

Suffice to say this week I finally tumbled down the rabbit-hole that is Nanoleaf. My question to you good folks... Am I a complete cliche at this point? Am I a beyond help? Does the blue/purple theme I've intended to evoke imagery of space and nebulae look more like a thai brothel? I must know.

Man are you seeking validation for your choices? That means you are deep down unsatisfied, or care too much about other people opinion. If you like it than what's the problem?

Certainly looks well done, but hard to tell without viewing it with the screens on and showing different typical tasks.

Don't want too much contrast to stress eyes and self.

And it may need or benefit from a well controled high CRI white on the desk immediately in front of the monitors, without any getting on the monitors nor too bright compared to the monitors.

It won't surprise him, he called it.

Lot of people post just to validate.

Something i've learnt about RGB and set ups like this.

it make for good photos...that's about it, At one point i had an RGB strip behind my desk. eventually i just set it to one colour, then just forgot about it completely and left it off.

Better than the gamer edgelord black and red combo that's about as dated as blue cathodes.

Oh God, I hate that black and red aesthetic.

What's funny is I can also remember back around 2000-01 going to LANs as a teenager and seeing these dudes that had dremeled out the side of their case to put a plexiglass window in with cathodes lighting everything up. Back in the day...

Loved the setup. I like purple/white. My PC case is a display cabinet right now with lightshows going on. I'd love to have your setup. Except the panel behind the monitor though, not sure if it's too bright against the monitors.

Thanks, I already have the original Strimers but I'm seriously thinking of upgrading. I mean come on, those things are gorgeous.

There wasn’t an throbbing.  It was just purple.  I’m more disturbed by the Siri than the RGB myself.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Very nice! I didn't know that Siri was able to control lighting like that.

It looks well done but I definitely get what you mean by Thai brothel. It would also probably give me a headache after a while. I'd hate to be stuck in a pit of darkness like that for more than half an hour, or if it wasn't just to wind down right before bed.

Haha, I'm not sure how the fact that you could build another PC with the cost is relevant; I'm sure if you needed one, that's what you would have done. It's like someone saying I could have bought 5 good GShock watches for the price of my Marathon...but I don't want 5, and it wouldn't have given me what I was after.

I do like some RGB and I went a bit crazy with RGB in my PC but I realized that I was spending to much money on unecessary parts.

I still think my PC looks great and the lights are usually set to a few certain themes I have saved.

But RGB lights on the walls and desk etc are weird and a bit over the top for me.

I would do the exact same thing I guess, with a setup like this :P

Clichés become clichés for a reason. I think it's cool looking, for sure. Albeit a little over the top.

It’s all in the eyes of the beholder I think.  All the rainbow in the pic you linked would drive me insane.  I think I could handle the OP’s room though.

Or neither.

Its pretty normal to want to get others opinions or just show off your work.

No different then people putting their pc specs in their sig.

Not everything has some deeper meaning.
