Incorrect Behavior When Thread is Locked While Writing Comment

Go to solution Solved by colonel_mortis,

Unfortunately this is just a side effect of the way that the forum software deals with URLs and forms, so there's nothing we can do about it. It happens because the upload area is requested from the same URL as the page itself, but with a parameter that is processed when it does the reply area related code, so if it never adds the reply area it doesn't get processed and the whole topic is returned instead.

Thread in question: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1149689-why-is-their-a-middle-finger-emoji/

Browser version: Firefox 72.0.2

What happened:

  1. Navigated to thread
  2. Started writing reply
  3. Thread was closed and locked
  4. A copy of the entire thread with the new thread closed post was displayed under the reply element(s)

The issue was fixed upon a refresh. I mistakenly did not attempt to submit the reply. Nor did I get a screen shot.

ENCRYPTION IS NOT A CRIME

Issue is true on chrome as well. Attempting to submit the reply results in an error page (dont remember specifics. You gotta refresh, and if you do itll show the thread as locked).

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
