Is a Q6600 and a GT610 still acceptable for gaming?

Odd. I feel like I'm gaming at 720p at that resolution. How do u do it?

I don't have a 1080p monitor. The 1600x900 came with my system when I bought it 5 years ago, and my parents let me take another one from their house that they weren't using.

 

Never occurred to me to upgrade. It would probably push my FPS down enough to the point where it would be noticeable.

I know it seems old, but can it still be a baller machine? I know the GT610 sucks balls, and I plan to upgrade it, but can the Q6600 stay in my system or will it have to eventually go? I actually like this system TBH (in my sig, under Current Rig)

A 4960X and a GT610 isn't suitable for gaming.

A GT 610 is underpowered.... For Freecell.

 

Q6600 is fine for gaming. Though its associated motherboards aren't something I personally would use.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

A majority of the later LGA775 motherboards are actually quite nice

The others don't know anything about LGA775, they are probably just reading over the comments and then they'll suggest a 4670K. Just an FYI but 1.55v is going to run a little warm, probably similar heat output to an overclocked FX 8350.

I know a bit about LGA775. Hell, I have a Prescott P4 (540J) sitting at 3.8GHz at 1.6v (I think).

A GT 610 is underpowered.... For Freecell.

Actually I have one too, it's perfectly fine for normal desktop stuff.

I much prefer Intel's integrated GPU for that if it is available, but

that's not always the case, so my 610 comes in quite handy from time

to time.

I love my GT 520 because it overclocks like a beast and it drives my second monitor

Dude, I bought it for a different system, but this system originally had an 8800GT non SLI. It was actually quieter than this.

Upgrade gpu, Cpu should be ok for most things for a little while.

The C2Q is nice. The 610 is a shit card though, sorry.

Your motherboard isn't that great, but it's not awful. There are many other boards out there that blow your n680i out of the water. The intel P45 and X48 and the Nvidia 780i and 790i are THE best chipsets to have.

The Q6600 you can get away with for now, but the 610 shouldnt even be allowed to exist. I used to have a Q6600 with a 640 and i was suprised by the performance i got for the price. I could play allot of games at lower with some mid setting and they would run fine. however the step up from the GT series to the GTX series is pretty big and well worth it if you can.

Not true, it's dirt cheap and if you're using it to drive multiple monitors it's fine. Doing anything aside from that is outside of it's intended usage scenario. I use one to drive my second and third monitors and it is perfect suited to the job. The low end GPU's have their uses gaming however isn't one of them.

Yeah, I already know it's dirt cheap, at 20 bucks a pop or so. The original was an 8800GT. Was it a mistake to take it out for the 610?
