Decided to re purpose old unused PC as a Ubuntu server for the house. Was wondering if it would be possible to dedicate a drive on the computer to being a time machine drive for the macs on the network?

What you need to do is the following:

- Install Samba

- Configure a shared folder on said harddrive

Then follow this guide:

You can't map an entire harddrive to be used for time machine over the network on

Linux. It can be done on a Synology NAS for instance, but other choices are slim.
