Anyone ever try the Cooler Master ML360R 360mm AIO?

Does anyone know how this AIO compares to other 360mm AIOs?

 

Also..is it better to have 3x smaller fans like 3x 120mm fans in a 360mm aio..

 

Or 2 larger fans like 2x 140mm fans in a 280mm aio?

 

Im trying to figure out the best possible cooler I can get for my overclocked 8700K since it runs pretty hot at ~25C idle.

25c idle is far from hot and idle temps are generally limited to >10c above ambient. 

What are load temps and what cooler are you currently using?

 

The ML360R is a good performer and there isn't a hard rule for determining whether a 360mm or 280mm is better. There are other factors that determine cooling performance and coolers from either category can trade blows.

My load temps can get pretty high. Up to like 89-90C on TimeSpy Extreme (according to HWMonitor) but they don’t stay there. They hit those temps and then immediately the AIO brings them back down to mid 60s Celsius. So they’re only at those high temps for a fraction of a second but it still registers on HW Monitor as the max.

 

I was basically asking because I have the 360mm ML360R (on the left) but I also have an EVGA CLC 280 280mm aio (on the right) as well so I was trying to figure out which one to use.

 

The ML360R was a huge pain to figure out how to setup with like 20 different cables and since I just got an H510 Elite case and a new motherboard (MSI MEG Z390 ACE) I wanted to move all my parts into my new H510 Elite case but that case only supports a 280mm AIO (in front where the 2x 140mm fans are).

Which cooler are you currently using? What motherboard settings are you using? Are you oc'ing?

Both coolers are great performers so you could just use the CLC 280 if you want to use the H510 Elite.

I’m currently using the ML360R but I don’t really like it since it’s a giant bird’s nest of cables in my PC and it’s very hard to do cable management.

 

Yes I have my 8700K OC’ed to 5 GHz @ 1.34V. I should mention it doesn’t stay at those high temps, it will hit like 89C for a fraction of a second and then immediately crash down to mid 60s and then repeat the process.

It should be similar. Considering the change in case, placement, and potentially fan speeds, it may be better or worse.

Comparing surface area a 360mm rad is about 9% more surface area than a 280mm rad, assuming everything else is equal.  I'm using the ML360R in a P400A for my 3700x.

Oh really?? Do you have any tips for cable management because it ended up being an absolute mess for me.

 

There’s literally like 20 different cables.

How do you have 20 cables lol.  3 fans, 2 cables each, that's 6.  2 from pump, that's 8 total.  Use splitters to combine ARGB to each other, and then PWM splitters for fan power.   That's how most AIOs are

Oh, I'm pretty sure I replied to your previous post from days/weeks ago about this.  You don't need to plug the ARGB into the controller.  The big cale bunch in the middle is the ARGB splitter you can use to connect the 3 fans, and then to the motherboard.  The smaller splitter, the one with the brown header and exposed green and yellow cables is your fan splitter, connect the 3 fans to that and plug that in to the mobo.  The rest are unneeded.  Its there if you need them, you don't ever need 100% of everything they provide in the box.

What about the box thing to the left of the splitter that’s in the middle with 3 cables coming out of it? Do I need that?

I should also note that my NZXT Kraken M22 had a lot less cables and I was able to get that setup easy peasey with no problems.

 

I think my biggest confusion is I never know what stuff is needed and what is not.

That's the ARGB controller.  You can use that if you want to control your ARGB from that box, but might as well just control it from within Windows.  Everything on the left is not needed.  All you need is the ARGB splitter and PWM splitter.  Everything else goes in the box.

Oh wow that makes it a lot easier .

 

Like I said I think the reason I keep getting so confused is I thought everything in the box was absolutely necessary and I end up not knowing where everything goes or how to use everything all at once and get frustrated.
