Does my motherboard support UASP?

Hello!

So, recenty I've been trying to figure out why my usb 3.0 flash drive has very slow write speed I've been told that there is a feature called UASP and if my storage device support it will run faster.

 

I launched CrystalDiskInfo to check if my 64gb Silicon Power C31 support UASP. But CrystalDisk does not see it. CrystalDiskMark does see it however.

 

So, I went to Device manager to check Storage Controllers section: 

As far as I know there has to be something like "USB Attached SCSI (UAS) mass storage device". But I don't have it there.

 

Next, in the Device Manager I looked the driver details about my USB flash drive:

 

So, currently my 64gb USB drive runs under USBSTOR.sys. Which is slower and older than UASP.

 

So, how to know if my motherboard support UASP? I have ASUS TRX40pro Prime. Every USB port it has is 3.1+

It is a very new one, so it has to support UASP, I guess. But I've been going through manual as well as googling and did not find any info about UASP in it.

 

P.S. I downloaded AI suite 3 but it doesn't show any USB related info there.

It's up to the USB controller and the usb driver to support it.

 

Download the AMD chipset drivers, most likely the usb drivers are within that package.

Yeah, I do have those. I downloaded AMD chipset drivers directly from AMD. That needed in order to make Ryzen Master work.

like USB 3.0 = USB 3.1 gen 1 
And UASP is a protocol, and it's in use in even in USB 3.2 Gen 2. 
I don't recall that there some newer protocol for USB then UASP. 
Like, there's a talk for adapting thunderbolt 3 protocol for USB 4.0, but that's in the future. 

 

Can't they like, don't mix the interface with the protocols?

 

and UASP in natively supported in Windows 10.

His motherboard absolutely supports UASP. It's part of the spec, and pretty much any drive/device made today is also UASP.

 

I don't necessarily think the drive is broken. It's just a slow drive. Slow write speeds on flash drives is extremely common. You get lower quality flash, an 8-bit controller, and usually just one channel of flash at that. People think that if they sell it as "USB3" that it's going to hit USB3 speeds...yeah, no, there's 2.0 drives faster (at writes) than many 3.0 drives. But I can't fault him for diving into the tech - it's why we're here.

it would think that too, if not for the amazon comment with benchmark on the 64GB version.

Amazon reviews are an entirely different discussion since they don't always align with a specific SKU. I didn't really look at them in this case, to be fair, I'm just stating that in general I've seen plenty of "3.0" flash drives that wrote that slow from SP. In fact I own some...but he can ID the controller and flash with an appropriate utility is so desired (usbdev).
