9700KF Delid?

Hello, 

 

After I delided my 7700K with succes, one of my friend want to delid his 9700KF. It is posibile with Delid Die Mate 2? Is the CPU soldered? Thanks.

The CPU is soldered, all 9th gen are

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Nope. It cannot be done with a delid die mate 2 beacuse its soldered.

Rockitcool makes a delid tool specifically for the 9th gen cpus. I've used it on a 9900k and 9900ks just fine. To make your life easier you'll want to also pick up some Quicksilver solder remover so you don't have to try to scrape it off manually with a blade after removing the IHS.

I de-lidded my 9900k with the same rockitcool de-lid tool I used previously for my 7700k. Worked without issue.

The de-lid die mate 2 will work as well. It's indium solder, it's very soft. You can scrape it with your finger nail.

I was playing with some old cpus and deliding them, one of them didn’t survived
