Is it worth upgrading from a 500w 80+ psu to a 600w for the rx 5700 8gb?

JacoobBlake

I’m about to upgrade to an rx5700 8gb, however I have just realised its recommended psu is 600w I currently use a coolermaster 500w 80+ psu, no overclocking etc. Is it worth upgrading to a 600w or will it be fine?

Not for power, but as Boggy asked... it may be worthwhile to get a better quality PSU if need be.

It's a pretty bad quality psu. Get a 550w corsair txm or bequiet straight power or bitfenix formula or whisper.

You don't need more power.

You just need a decent PSU (unlike the one you have).

Good brands for PSU are Seasonic, EVGA, silverstone, bequiet, and corsair. I've personally had coil whine issues with some of corsair's power supplies.

Ryzen 7 3700X

Aorus GTX 1080ti

G.Skill TridentZ 3200MHz 2x8GB

Corsair SFX 750W

Phanteks Evolve Shift Air (glass front)

2x Corsair Force GS 120GB SSD (RAID 0)

seasonic has some crap

evga has a ton of crap

silverstone has confusing crap

be quiet has some crap

corsair has some low end crap

recommend per model, not per company, as they say

MPE-5001-ACABW

has issues with voltage drops due to a lacking or malfunctioning UVP

so as Jon said, wattage isn't an issue, quality is
