What performance tier are you looking for? Also what priorities do you have? Battery life? Portability? Display quality? etc.

For perfomance, anything with an 8th gen core i5 or above. Priorities are keyboard, battery life, and thinness/lightness. Im thinking of getting the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 Base model, but I'm open to suggestions. The budget is strict though.

depends on what you need it for. I've got a HP something or other, works great and the touch screen comes in handy, but it would probably die if it tried to run any recent games.
