HD600 or HD6XX?

The Fidelios to me aren't that close in frequency response may I ash where you got that chart? I need to cross reference

I just use a bot on a discord that will throw them together. The X2 measurements are from Innerfidelity. I'll attach them alone just in case

After much deliberation and checking of reviews, I might get the HE 4XX.

Beyerdynamics seem to have a reputation for being brighter with murderous sibilance. I dont think I fall into their target audience.

You do you, but I don't see how these are going to be very different.

my main issue with these frequency response graphs are they seem a little over compensated but thats just me and my ears.

so the main differences are the drivers between the he 4xx and the rest

it being a planar driver has a different sort of timbre. the 4xx has a very limnear bass response and has more of a extension in the subbass. it's also a very fast driver much faster than the rest so the bass is tight and responsive and wont leak to the mids.

the 880 particularly the 600 ohm which I favor over the rest as it sounds the best.  is a neutral semi U shaped sounding headphone. uses the same drivers as the rest of the lower end beyers do and being beyers that tend to have a nice strong bass and subbass this particular headphone has strong but not over powering bass with present mids and nice detailed sharp but not overly agressive treble like evry beyer heapdhone.

the ficdelio is fun bassy  oulled back mids smooth high and super non offensive aside from the bass as that can be too over done and loose for many audiophiles. but overall a laid back bassy headphone

the r70x admittedly dont have any experience with this can but what I hear from my audio friends that have tried them say its like a better hd 600.

Not the whole story, but a heck of a lot closer than Humans converting what they hear to adjectives.

Everyone's ears are going to be different, the compensation is just the standard human model taken from research. It's up to the individual to compare self testing to any measurements, regardless of compensation.

Bass extension on planar drivers is nice, but I personally haven't found one where I can tolerate the peak in the treble. I know I'm very sensitive to sibilant highs, and the HD650 has been perfect for me. Because of this it's hard for me to recommend someone anything with a big treble peak when they are coming from a bassy set of cans like the X2.

On the R70X, I think the graph supports anecdotal claims of it being "a better HD600." It has better bass extension, less of a drop in the mids, and a similar treble response.

true but they benefit quite a significant amount that I would personally not use them without an amp

I just dont subscribe to using charts and saying they should all sound similar cause charts dont tell the whole story especially when it comes to presentation

lol true,  no I can definitely power them with it but an amp really adds to it IMO properly powering all the frequencies.

Yet here you are, saying you should spend extra or else the headphones won't work their best. It's fine with out an amp.

I meanfrom my experience they dont sound at its best without one. and if they really don't think it benefits that much they can always send it back nothing is stopping OP. if you think they are fine without an amp you do you. I am just saying they definitely benefit.

Electrically they don't, but in the age of fake news and disposal of facts, it don't matter none. I live in a box anyway, not like I am an authority.
