Monitor recommendation for 980 ti

Going to be purchasing a 980 ti and would like to upgrade my monitor to something better than a couple of cheap 1080p monitors, any thoughts ?

You still wanting a better 1080p monitor or you going to 1440p?

980 ti is perfect for 1440p equivalent to a 1070.

I will suggest a couple I have experienced.

Acer Predator (most expensive)

Asus ROG Swift

AOC/Agon

Also Linus has a video on monitors from the holiday.

AOC/Agon 1440p is nice in my opinion for the price. $299 USD

If 1080p then it will go down in price and probably grab a nice asus. If you want TN, VA or IPS prices will be different as well.

ASUS VG278Q TN

MSI Optix G27C2 VA

Acer Nitro VG271 IPS

All still under $300 1080p 144hz monitors.

whats the best for gaming and watching movies or video, VA, TN, or IPS ?

IPS has better colors and viewing angles (colors stay the same if viewed from an oblique angle), TN panels are the opposite however cheaper, VA/SVA panels are a good in-between (SVA is better than VA). IPS is best for purely watching movies/video, VA and TN are better for gaming

so ips is probably the way to go then, now what res and refresh rate should i be looking at ?

IMO, a nice mid-higher end CRT, like a Sony Trinitron or a Mitsubishi Diamondtron.

144hz and either 1080p or 1440p. So with the budget get the best you can. IPS can be expensive with high refresh rates.

if i get a 1440p monitor, i could drop the res and refresh rate if need be correct ?
