Including broadband, how much do you spend per month on online entertainment? (Netflix, Amazon Prime, DLC, season passes etc.)

Recommended Posts

I see people spending fuckton of money every month on subscription-services 😨

Personal spending-wise, it would look something like:

  • £9.99 for Spotify Premium per month
  • £49.99 for Discord but that's an annual sub rather than a monthly.

I don't actually know how much my family pays for broadband and networking.

My internet costs me $109/month after taxes. I have 1.5Gbps down and 1Gbps up.

I have 4 neighbors that I rent wireless routers to at 150 Mbps each for $35/month, half what they'd be paying. Even if all 4 were using the full 150mbps I let them have, I'd still have 900Mbps for my own personal network.

In the end I pocket about $30 after my bill, which I use towards Steam games and other virtual media.

So I can officially say, I spend $0 out of pocket for these lol

Isn't Discord free though?

Internet $210  Gig connection (1000 download upload only 7-10)

- It's a triple play bundle with Comcast/Xfinity. Oh how I loathe this company and wish it would die in a fire.

Netflix $5 (T-mobile pays the base, I'm paying for the " Ultra HD premium upgrade")

Playstation Plus $40 (I wait for the Black Friday Sale)

I swear if my father didn't stay with me, Comcast would've been canceled. They are absolute trash. I hate them so much.

Does your condo HOA have the contract on the books for Comcast as a forced shared expense?

If so, you can easily get away with telling them to shove it in most cases. I'd give a call to a local HOA attorney. A forced TV package is absurd. While an HOA can argue that internet or phone is a needed utility, telling owners what entertainment they need to have in their homes would never hold up in court.

It has to be gotten rid of by vote and there are still too many dinosaurs that still use it.

Every year we have a vote and the numbers are getting better. Maybe next year.

Its not that bad if you have multiple peoople in the house doing some of these services. For example my parents pay for internet and part of the Hulu/Disney+ service. I cover the rest of the Hulu/Disney+  service, because we have the no ads version of Hulu and I pay for Netflix and Prime.

Parents portion:

Xfinity 200/10 $83 + taxes and fees

Hulu No ads + Disney + package $12

My portion

Prime $119 a year

Hulu/Disney $6 (I pay the diffrence due to the no ads package on hulu)

Netflix :$16

Floatplane: $3

If we had TV from Comcast the cable bill would be over $120 not to meniton box rental fees. I calculated it up and we save a bit of money. When we had cable and internet via Comcast it was at one time $160 a month. So if you add it all up we are still saving a bit.

You ever notice that many establishments have a sign that as "No Shirt, No Shoes, No service"? They never say anything about pants............ You know what that implies. You dont have to wear pants.

Lets see, My internet is included in my rent but its $90 a month, its 300mbps down /15mbps up

Netflix is $16.99

Floatplane is like $4

WWE Network is $13

Amazon is $8

So I guess my total would be $132 a month CAD
