Need help with my laptop

Ok so i recently bought a acer nitro 5, it's good to use but recently i ran into a bit of a problem. When ever i start to use my GPU ( Mobile 1050Ti ), my laptop shuts down automatically and takes a few minutes to restart the screen just goes black no BSoD no crash reports directly just shuts down. This happens only if i use my Nvidia gpu the laptop works well if i use the intel integrated graphics. I thought it was a heating issue so i cleaned the fans and applied new thermal paste but the issue stays the same. Anyone here has any ideas ? Also its been only 7 months since i bought my laptop.

TL;DR :- Laptop keeps shutting down when the GPU is used.

What are the temps on your GPU?

You can use coretemp and gputemp (free software) to monitor these things.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

My GPU stays between 50 and 60 degrees

Ok, those temps are good.

Does the laptop shut down the moment you switch to the 1050ti, or under load?

Your first problem is ACER...

never had a good experience with anything ACER, so stopped buying that brand long time back.

Next is Did you update the Drivers?

If you did, can you revert back to the driver that was working?

This is provided this was working at some point of time earlier...

Also, you mentioned, thermal paste.. if you recently bought the laptop, thermal paste should not have been an issue, and there should have been no need to clean the vents and all.

ACER has this sticker on the bottom that says that if you open the laptop, it will void the warranty... did you check for that?

The warranty ran out 2 months ago so i'm not worried about that and yeah i really do have a bad experience with the brand but i have thus learnt my lesson. I think the drivers are a good place to check but should i revert to the old drivers or update to the new one ?

Try reverting to the drivers when the machine was working OK... first..

Tried it. Didn't have any luck

You did not mention how old the laptop was...

This seems like a HW issue, like the power supply( Power Brick) or the battery.

See if you can buy a compatible but highest wattage power supply for this laptop. Make sure the specs match and try that out..

Also, see if you can change the battery, that could be causing the issue as well.

You can research and buy from Amazon making sure you can return the power supply and the battery if it is found that did not fix the issue.

Seems like the power draw from the 1050Ti is more than the power coming in or being retained by the battery.
