Widescreen VA or 144Hz IPS?

davidbeenjammin

I’m ready to upgrade from my 1440p/60Hz monitor and deciding between a VA 3440x1440 at 100 Hz, or a 2560x1440 IPS panel at 144+ Hz.

From my perusal online and on pcpartpicker, it looks like I’d be spending a similar amount of money on either in my price range (sub $500) and just curious for opinions on what might give me the better gaming experience.

I play primarily single player titles (Jedi Fallen Order, The Witcher, etc.), very few e-sports or competive games in my repertoire. My rig has an 8600k and a GTX 1080.

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

The question is can your 1080 push 60+ fps at 1440p?

So by using it at 1440p you will still get 60fps on either monitors.

I say get the wider screen for more immersive experience.

So far, my 1080 has been able to push 60+ FPS at 1440p on high settings. That may change, but for now it’s been more than sufficient.
