That is why I like games that have style, rather than trying to look like the prettiest tech demo out there.

I can still go back to a game like Smash Melee after playing Smash Ultimate, as Melee just had a certain style to it.

If that is true, then trying RDR2 on my CRT at 1440p will be the best eye candy ever.

One benefit of being massively into the PS2 Gran Turismo games is that even Team Fortress 2 can look gorgeous in some scenarios. I'm glad I haven't spoiled myself massively with RDR2.

It's being appreciative of what is out there, GT managed to have it's very own visual look, i don't see visuals as better, just subjective time pieces to be enjoyed at any time.

Go back and revisit your inner child, that child knew no difference between bad and good graphics, just fun and enjoyment.

I've always felt that a lot of games, no matter how old, have something to them that just makes them impressive.

I'll take the first Midnight Club on the PS2 for example. It took the formula of Midtown Madness and managed to stuff it onto a CD for the PS2 and made it work well with that hardware. No, it's not visually striking in any real way, but it's very much neat to see that they managed to do that for a launch game.

Gran Turismo 3, too; the wet versions of Special Stage Route 5 and 11 both look really nice, honestly way better than anything Polyphony could do up until GT Sport. And that was back in 2001!

I could ramble on about a ton of games I remember, like Test Drive Unlimited being the first modern-style open world racing game (like in the vein of what Forza Horizon is now), but my point stands that a lot of games have quality characteristics that end up aging well.

I remember distinctly the wet tracks! yes the PS2 was an effect pushing monster, just limited Vram & a very, very complex to code for console, but damn could it do effects!

GranTurismo2 with some Filtering for jaggies...

Emulated and Downsampled

Loving it.

Playing GT6 on PS4 didn't ruin GT2 for me...

I'm just happy I can run it cleaner than the PS1/2 era machines..

TestDriveUnlimited 1 is a good example... ruined other games for me (for a time)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Oh man, Transformers on the PS2 brings me back. It's held up.

There are a lot of games on the PS2 that, despite that hardware's deficiencies, pulled off some crazy things because the hardware had some really strange tricks up its sleeve. Silent Hill 2, for example, really made good use of the hardware's ridiculous alpha fill rate to create its fog effects (which were never properly replicated outside of emulating the PS2 version).

I have the Original XBOX port of SH2 and yes it's inferior which if truth be known, the XBOX is overall a vastly superior console, but because the PS2 as you stated had just.. insanity levels of alpha fill rate ability, paired with the effect handling it could do (mostly thinking it is to do with it's stupidly massive 2560-bit bus bandwidth) it made even the PS3 & XBOX 360 weak at the knee's in the HD remasters.

I admit its realy good. But its just too much. I doubt i will ever see the end of it. But thats Taste i guess. I played Witcher 3 way more. But the LOD in RDR2 is realy impressive.

Rockstar typical junk. I don't know a single person who bought it that hasn't had many issues with it for PC.
