How to Properly configure Sony Home Theatre with Sony Android TV

Abdullah Suleman

Dear All,

I have Sony DAV-DZ650 home theatre along with Sony XBR-49X700D (Android TV). I am unable to properly configure 5.1 surround sound properly, and I'm sure most people aren't either so help us out?

I followed the manual. In the settings of the home theatre I set "TV Audio" to HDMI AND "HDMI Audio" to ALL. The TV is connected to the theatre via hdmi. And yes, the hdmi is connected into the HDMI ARC port of the TV. The "Bravia Sync" is working as well. I have tried all the surround settings: "Standard", "Multi" and "Dobly PL" but I'm unable to get 5.1 surround sound out of the TV.

In the settings of the player when I play "Test Tone" all the channels work fine individually. But when using the TV no surround sound is observed. It's either the front left, right and center OR the front surround left and left, center and surround right and right(Plays kinda stereo).

I've tested on the TV itself using: Netflix (Witcher - made sure the audio was 5.1) and Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqVCPE8_ntE).

Lads, please help me out?
