What is the Best CPU for 3D modeling and Game Design?

Sup Techies,

 

So, I’m starting my first PC build, and I need some advice before going forward. For context reasons, my pc will be heavily used for 3D modeling, rendering, sculpting, as well as animations. I’m talking blender, maya, zbrush, unity, photoshop, etc. No email checking, or streaming, or 4K editing or anything of the sort. The only gaming I’ll be doing is testing my own, so I guess FPS is important in that respect.

 

Anyway, I’m trying to find the best (and most cost-friendly) CPU. I am between a thread ripper 2920x and an intel i7 9700k. The extra cores in the thread ripper look good for rendering, but it seems the processing power and clock speed of the i7 are better for sculpting and modeling work. I am torn and not sure if either have a leg up that I may have overlooked. I am working my way through this build research by research and every response or piece of information helps.

outdated list, 3900X has the advantage of both CPUs while using cheaper boards.

Slow memory, not recommended for anything when even 3000MHz is cheap

GPUs above the 2070S start dropping steeply in value

NZXT H500, doesnt do well in overall airflow

Get the 3900x or 3950x

old threadrippers, sadly, are worse then 3900x in all tasks you are looking for (i think only exception is if you need tonnes of PCI slots, which likely you don't), just get on AM4 and enjoy it

Also get a M.2 NVME SSD since they are faster than 2.5" SSD for around the same price. Could be some good sales around this time of the year for ones that are 2 to 3 times faster than regular SSDs.
