HP XW4400 RAM upgrade

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited) · Original PosterOP

Hi guys

I have a XW4400 with a core 2 duo and 2gb DDR2

I looked at the manufacturer's website and a few other sites and apparently if you want more than 2gb ram, you need DDR2 ECC RAM

So I got some.

It does not physically fit.

The motherboard uses a 975X chipset.

If anyone could tell me if it does actually take more than just 2GB of regular RAM, or another solution, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance

Extra picture of the ECC RAM. Is it the wrong kind of ECC RAM? It's DDR2 ECC right?

Yes according to this: https://www.serversupply.com/MEMORY/PC2-5300/2GB/HP/398707-051.htm

So there is regular DDR2, BUFFERED DDR2 ECC and UNBUFFERED DDR2 ECC? Where can I get unbuffered ecc ddr2?

Oh damn, I missed that.. Yours is fully buffered. I really don't know. Maybe ebay or something like that.
