Thanks for the help

I have a 10 year old pc that keeps having more issues, looking to get a i5 9600k with WiFi built into the mother board, I have a Zotac 1060 6gb graphics card and a free caseI can use, I can pull the 500gb SSD from my old pc since it is dying,

I don’t really know what’s good and cheap for the rest of the build. Aiming for under $500 with the cpu if possible. i plan on gaming and using the pc to get through school, looking for the cheapest build, I don’t plan on overclocking but am looking for reliability

Any recommendations help and AMD won’t work for my school projects

edit: for those wondering why intel I need the Intel SGX feature for school

What kind of school projects? I can't really think of any workloads where the 9600K is optimal.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

What do you mean by amd wont work?

Amd with the zen 2 launch and the new ipc improvement has been moving toes to toes with Intel.

Currently the best value is r5 3600.

Hi,

Look "plundervolt" and you'll rethink SGX feature.

So everyone here is trying to convince me to get AMD and isn’t helping me with my question, I’m not an Intel fanboy but seems like everyone here so far is an AMD fanboy, can anyone help me find the cheapest reliable system for a 9600k? Not sure what companies are good or how cheap I can go on motherboards

Do you plan/need to overclock the CPU?

When the cpu is 300, you can't have the rest of the build for 200

  • The 9600K doesn't include a cooler. For low cost and reasonable quality, the GAMMAXX isn't a bad place to start. If you want to OC, you'll want to invest a bit more.
  • The UD would be fine whether or not you want to OC. No wifi board is cheap currently, so a pcie adapter is the easy answer.

I would save some money and go with the i5-9400F since you won't be overclocking, and it has a cpu cooler in the box so that'll save you some money there as well.

As for the motherboard, the ASRock B360M is a mini ITX board if you want to go small form factor PC. It has integrated wifi, and there is no overclocking capabilities since it is a B360 chipset.

If you want to go ATX, then the Gigabyte B360 AORUS Gaming 3 WIFI would be an option.

i5 9400F is 144.99. No need for OC, and he has a GPU since it doesn't have integrated graphics, comes with a CPU cooler

I was going to suggest the same if there was no desire to overclock.

OP if you see the build above you could then skip the CPU cooler (it's included with the 9400f) and save on the CPU.

I agree, plus with the B360 chipset motherboard he can save $200 no problem.

My only issue with B450 is that it doesnt support decent RAM speeds. I'd keep the UD.

No overclock just trying to go cheap

Then you could do something like this and really lose no performance:
