Does anyone know what type of screwdriver I need to properly take out the screws on a ps3 controller?

Not sure, I did see a somewhat similar screwdriver on Walmart for (Xbox 360 / PS3-PS4) screwdriver kit. I did a tiny bit of digging, it's a really small phillips head, but sounds like Sony's controllers are a pain in the ass to take apart. So if you have a long, tiny phillips head screw driver then your all set.

Oh and another question;

Is it recommended to apply tapes on both sides of the sensor cushion? (black cushion in the controller).

PS3 has been prone to have controller issue, it is not so robust with functionality
