A rant about steamguard

So: I avoided steamguard for years because I heard bad things.  It seems steamguard is no longer optional.
I upgraded to windows10 (which I am still regretting doing. It has so far cost me $260)

and find that steam will not let me log in without a steamguard code.  The problem is when they send a steamguard cod it does not reliably arrive.  There are apparently options to deal with this, but ALL OF THEM require that I first log in.... with a steamguard code.

i am locked out of steam.

I’ve been futzing with this for half a day now.  At the moment I have a wild urge to find the steam offices and just show up.  If those offices happened to be in my town I would already be there.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

When you set up steam guard they give you a last resort recovery code to use. This is that type of situation.

I never started up steamguard.  It was thrust upon me by me updating to Windows 10 and therefore “logging on with a different machine or from a different location”

Have you attempted to log in on your phone?

That is a major reason I Diddnt want to do steamguard in the first place.  I get enough robocall crap already.  I don’t need another asshat selling my phone number.

Steam doesn't sell your phone number.

You can also tell steam to send you an email instead of a text or mobile alert for MFA. Shouldn't be that big of an issue.

Don't. This can only make things worse as you probably wouldn't even be allowed in without an appointment. Plus, yelling at some random staff member won't help your situation at all. They can't do anything to help.

My suggestion: download the steam app, turn on steam guard, it should ask for a phone number or email to verify with.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/
