Stuck on limited RGB range over USB-C

Hi all! I am trying to use a second display plugged into my laptop via HDMI over USB-C. However I've noticed that the monitor is stuck on limited color range and appears washed out. 

 

I found this page about quantization range, which I think should be what I need, however, the fix here is not changing anything for me. The range goes back to full as soon as I plug the monitor directly into the laptop, but I'd really like it to work properly through the dock. 

 

Any suggestions? Thanks guys!
