old computer won't POST

so i have this old PC and it worked fine just a little bit ago but now it doesn't POST with no beep codes.

i tested each of its components and they all seem to be fine, so i'm left with either the mobo or the cpu being the problem.

now it has one of the later core 2 quads (cant remember what model) and unfortunately i do not have another mobo that supports it, so i cant really test it by placing it in another mobo, however, i DID try it in one of the motherboards that do not support it and it at least showed a message saying "this motherboard does not support this cpu". that should mean that it detects the cpu model number, right? which means the cpu is working, right? is my mobo the problem here?
