is this psu good enough

i want to know if i can keep my 500w psu for a ryzen 2700x gtx 1060 build i plan on upgrading the psu once i get a new gpu im just wondering if it will be enough

500w I believe would be enough for this system, but the thing you should worry more about is the quality of the PSU, if you can get the model of this coolermaster PSU, then we can get to the conclusion of if it is or not.

i dont know the model but i have had it for about a year and a half and i have had no issues with it at all rn it runs a i5 3470 and a 1060

Ahh, so its the Cooler Master RS-500-PCAR-13, or commonly known as the Extreme Power Plus I think. The quality of the PSU is alright, I did a bit of research on it, I think it'll be fine for your 2700x 1060 system.

No PFC, only 360W on the +12V rail.  Are you sure it was bought in this decade?

i just need it to work on my ryzen and 1060 for a year till i upgrade its ran my i5 and 1060 fine im sure alittle extra load wouldnt kill it

If it has worked for this long with your i5 system then you should consider yourself lucky.

 

As mentioned it lacks PFC which is really the most basic thing that any power supply of the last 10-15 years should have. Despite the "500" written on the label, it is not a 500W power supply. Total output is only 427W according to the label and maximum rated output on the 12V rail(s) is low with only 360W. Modern hardware relies heavily on 12V, with your CPU and graphics card drawing all of their power through 12V. It also fails to meet any of the 80+ efficiency standards.

You probably won't find much information on the RS-500-PCAR-I3. I believe the RS-500-PCAR-I3 was not sold separately and was only included with Cooler Master cases in the late 2000s/early 2010s. You would buy a cheap Cooler Master case w/ "500w" power supply bundle and it would come with that power supply included.

 

I would normally recommend just replacing it ASAP since it is bad, but seeing as how you are planning on replacing your system with new CPU + Motherboard + RAM it gives you a good opportunity to replace the power supply as well. When you buy your new motherboard, RAM, CPU make sure you also buy a new power supply to go with it.
You mentioned you were planning on replacing the GTX1060 later (next year?) so I would recommend going with a good quality 550W power supply and that should be fine if you want to upgrade your GPU later.
