Trying to upgrade my PC. Budget 500 euros

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, new here. I would like ur opinions as I am looking into upgrading my current system and more specifically, CPU, GPU, Motherboard and also a PSU since I will be needing more Watts with the new hardware. My current parts are:

  • CPU: intel i5 6500

  • GPU: gtx 750ti

  • mobo: b150m-a m.2 asus

  • psu: corsair vs 450

I have a 144hz 1080p display. My budget is around 450-500$. These are the parts that I considered replacing with:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 2600

  • GPU: [Used] MSI RX Vega 56 Air boost OC(215euros)

  • mobo: Asrock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4

  • psu: Corsair CX Series CX650M

Let me know what you guys think. I am not really experienced with computer parts so let me know what the best parts for my budget would be.

For the CPU I'd recommend Ryzen 5 2600X, 3600 or 3500X.

For the motherboard - the AM4 MSI Boards on the B450 or X470 boards would be safe bets.

A Vega56 is a decent GPU, but if you'd go with a newer card you could keep the old PSU if you'd choose a 1660 Super.

Not much of an upgrade?

What experience change do you expect?

Personally I would keep the setup you have and save up for a proper upgrade, rather than a few FPS that whole new rig will give.

When you can afford a 1440p monitor and GPU plus a whole new MoBo, CPU, storage and PSU then upgrade.

For now, if you want a few extra FPS, grab a second hand GPU from the last generation or two. Your CPU will handle it just find, dont worry about “bottlenecks” if  you get a significant FPS bump at 1080p
