hi there, i have a very gorgeous Persian cat that my cousin couldnt handle and gave it to me, but the cat meows nonstop in the morning around 2 to 8am so i always wake up and throw her in the bathroom till i fully wake up which leaves her in the bathroom for hours which is kinda sad but i cant handle her consist meowing do you think that its animal abuse leaving her in the bathroom for hours?

As long as she's got Food, Water, and a litter box while locked away, it's not exactly abuse - you could possibly say it's a mild form of neglect though.

 

She likely is meowing because she wants your attention. Do you give her lots of attention during the day?

 

Some cats also just like to meow at night sometimes. Mine does usually about an hour after we've gone to bed (whatever time that happens to be), and she has her favourite toy in her mouth, which she then leaves in front of our bedroom door. It's a "gift" from her.

 

As long as I close the door, it usually isn't bothersome.

 

But if your cat is meowing for 6 hours straight, there's some kind of issue there - likely the cat has anxiety or something.

When my cat tries to wake me up I just pull the covers over my head. It's stuffy and uncomfortable breathing but I got used to it.

Just don't let them in your room during the night, if it's a problem.

Sounds like you need to change the setup. Move the litter box, and install a lock (or even just a child safety latch) on the door. There exist options that attach via double sided tape and are easy to remove, if you're renting.

please do not throw your cat, that is animal abuse

just move your cat into the bathroom, or get your cat a portable cat house

buy your cat some toys to play with

For the OP, here are some of the common reasons why cats meow at night:

Your cat’s instincts are telling her it’s time to hunt.
She didn’t do enough exercise/activity during the day and wants to play.
She’s hungry or thirsty.
She’s confused by a new environment or schedule.
She’s scared.
She’s lonely and seeking attention or just making sure you’re still there with her.

 

Particularly the 4th one, since the cat is new to you. Assuming you meet all of her basic needs (food, water, clean litter box, and attention/exercise/toys), she should eventually adapt and stop meowing.

 

In particular, you want to show the cat that you care for it. Locking it in another room while you sleep is okay as long as it's needs are met inside that room (food, water, clean litter box, and exercise/toys) - locking it in a bathroom will make it difficult to meet those needs.

 

Owning an animal is a responsibility. You are taking care of another living creature. If you can't meet their needs, find them a loving home that will.
