We need more BOINC badges. Modern hardware reaches gold too fast.

Hey,

So after the F@H month  there were two additional F@H badges added to reflect many of us having the highest badge and the fact that modern hardware is so quick at being at those badges.

But the situation is even worse on BOINC. I had like 30m points and after the F@H Month put my VII on Colaz Conjucture. It pulls about 10m PPD. So basically one cloud reach the highest badge in like 10 days.

Therefore idd really like to see the Platinum and Mythic badge coming to BOINC!

Thanks  and keep on crunching those numbers!

Oh and one note: Yes I did collatz on BOINC to reach the badge faster, but after this please support some more important stuff like rosetta, GPU Grid and F@H. This is much more important for society and they are actually producing pretty awesome results!

i mean, using collatz is basicallky cheating anyway. if you want to get the same badge on something like rosetta you'd take much longer.

yes, i've been crunching collatz for a bit too, and yes i'm a hypocrite, but imo collatz as an argument is kinda invalid.

I’m sticking to E@H and with 4 GPUs it’s pretty slow going at 1 to 1.5 million per day but at least that has an objective I can relate to. It would be nice if there were more health projects for GPUs, I know there’s Rosetta but it just seems to be an inefficient copy of F@H. The ClimateGrid looked interesting but there wasn’t any work for it when I checked last.

Mostly I’m doing BOINC to keep my config-fu sharp for the next Pentathlon.

It would be nice if there were badges for CPU and GPU separately. 100M on CPU projects is quite an achievement. But I guess that’s what the project badges are for. Just got my first Diamond Badge on WCG for Mapping Cancer Markers.

Yes, you are correct. But I think wee ned the new badges also because with "normal" projects its also pretty quick to get the Badges.

YES! But Rosetta is actually super awesome! They produce more papers and stuff than F@H! Recently they received close to 50M$ to go further for cancer etc treatment. On Christmas I will be getting my hands on my new 3900x. Thats going to do Rosetta!

I'm not sure who to exactly ping about adding new badges.

Another addition that definitely be great is one for the BOINC Pentathlon event.  Maybe done up similar to the F@H event badges?

Agree, the main BOINC badges do seem overdue for a re-work.

Maybe we can kindly ask our F@H colleagues about where they got the new badges done? @GOTSpectrum

(sorry to bother you with this and thanks in advance)
