Pc will crash While gaming after changing to a new SSD.

Hi, new poster here. I'm not English Native so please excuse my bad writing.

 

I have changed recently my older SATA SSD to a new NVME SSD [Corasair MP510 500 GB] and somehow this change has caused my computer to freeze, restart or even Show BSOD while gaming. Full specs:

- AMD RYZEN 7 1700

- Gigabyte x470 AORUS GAMING

- 2x8 GB Corsair at 3000 Mhz

- Gigabyte RX590 8 Gb

- 2x SATA 4Tb HDD [Western Digital RED]

- 1x Corsair MP510 500 GB [Main drive with OS and Games]

- 650 W 80 Plus Bronze Aerocool templarius PSU

- 2x Dell 1920x1080 60 Hz monitors. One DisplayPort, One HDMI.

 

So, I had a 250 Gb Samsung SSD [Sata 3] and thought about changing it up for the corsair said above. Once bought, I installed W10 1909, Radeon Drivers and Ryzen Master. I have F40 version of my BIOS, whic is not the newest, but it is the same I had before changing to the new SSD.

 

If I try to launch PUBG, scrren will freeze and display a BSOD (Just a few second after loading the menu), no matter what I'm also running. CPU won't go over 50º C and GPU will hardly get to 60ºC. So I guess it's not a Thermal issue.

 

If I try to launch SWBFII or BFV, Game will get to search a match, but then it will Crash or freeze, and display again a BSOD. Again, no matter wat apps I am also running (I have tried no apps, and even chrome with 10 tabs, it freezes each time). Also temperatures look good here.

 

Other more light Games, like LOL, will launch and play with no problems.

 

I have thought it can't be thermal issues (Temperatures dont rise above 70ºC anycase), it can't be GPU issues (LOL works just fine), it can't be Power issues (I'm well beyond my rigs max power ussage). And I have ran out of options here. It was all changing that SSD and it all went down. Also, I work on this computer with SolidWorks, and big and complex projects will work just fine, with CPU Usage and Temps rising as expected. I have tried my best to upload here the report info for the BSOD, hope you can read it.

Did you unplug your hard drives when you installed windows on the SSD?

UPDATE: I just updated my BIOS to F50, with no efect whatsoever

Well then do what @Enderman suggested. It's very much a thing,  idk why, probably a Windows thing / bug tbh.

You mean to re-install Windows without the HDDs connected, or just try to boot it up without the drives?

Okay, I'll need to wait for that until the weekend, because I need the computer for tomorrow's work.

 

Also, I tried launching the games with the HDDs unplugged both from the PSU and the MOBO, still getting BSOD.

Should I just re-install fresh with the HDDs unplugged, and then connect them, or Shuld I also clean-format them before connecting them to the system?

 

EDIT: I fresh-installed W10 qith only The SSD connected [Both HDDs unplugged] and problem is still there. I have latest version of Windows10 and AMD Drivers. I get to the menu of PUBG and then it crashes and BSOD. Still no problems playing League of Legends. I don't get why it fails with some games but no with others...

 

Could it be a configuration error that causes the GPU to crash? If I look on the event viewer, I can see it is a Kernel-Power problem 41 (63), but I'm running with a Desktop, not a Laptop, so I don't know how to fix it.

Yes, crashes and BSOD are there with or without HDDS.

 

I have, connected to the PC, keyboard, mouse dongle, webcam, two monitors and network.

Hm, have you tried installing windows and your GPU drivers without two monitors plugged in?

Also, without anything else other than keyboard and mouse.

I once had an issue with windows crashes when I clean installed with 6 displays plugged in.

When I reinstalled with all except one of them unplugged, isntalled GPU drivers, then plguged the displays in, windows worked properly.

 

If it's still not working with just a single keyboard, mouse, and display after a clean install then there probably is some hardware issue with your ram or CPU or motherboard.

I tgried as you said, only keyboard, mouse and one Display. After installation connected Ethernet and second Display. Still BSOD while Gaming.

 

Thing is, I can play League Of Legends stable and no problem, but PUBG will crash just when I found a match. I can even hear the sounds of the lobby for a few seconds, and then it will crash randomle, report kernel-power 41 (63) and go to BSOD.

I think 650 W is more than enough for my build so I discard being a PSU problem

Could it be a GPU problem? When it has to ramp up for heavier games it kind of crashes? Directx problems? I dont think it's CPU/RAM because any other games and heavy software will crash it. Is there any procedure to test where the fail realy is?

Just to show as an example, I downloaded and ran AIDA64 Extreme, with stress on CPU, GPU, RAM, for 15 minutes [while it looked like the system was stable].

 

As you can see in the picture, CPU can Run to 85 ºC at 100% for 15 minutes. Also, RAM and GPU do well for those 15 minutes. How is it possible thats stress test for 15 doesn't crash but 4 seconds of gamne menu does?

Well, at least we narrowed it down to a hardware issue instead of software.

 

650W is definitely enough, although cheap no name PSUs could cause issues even if the number on the side is big.

I would see if a friend or someone has a PSU or GPU that you could swap out for and test, that's really the onyl way to narrow down and isolate the component causing the problem.

Also some PC sales or repair stores have parts that they can diagnose your PC with to find the problem, but you usually have to pay for that.

I have spare parts on my house to try. Right now I swapped to a newer, 550W 80PlusBronze PSU to see if the problem persists.

 

I will edit this answer with any changes to the situation.

Hey! Sorry for the gravedig but i have the same exact problem and i can't understand why.  I have already tried 3 different Nmve M2 in 3 years and nothing changed...random BSOD... 

If I go back to my old SSD the problem goes away and te computer goes straight without any problem.

 

Have you resolved somehow this problem?
