NO SPEAKER VOLUME - LG Ultrawide 29WK600-W Monitor

EternalSunKing

Hello Everyone,

I have just purchased and setup my new ultrawide monitor and love the visual quality. But I can't get the speakers to work. Yes the monitor does in fact have speakers (see below). I have made sure the monitor was selected for sound. I have run the windows sound troubleshooter. I have installed the latest drivers from LG... I guess I could try an older driver version

I'm beginning to wonder if having the monitor plugged into the graphics card is creating the issue??? Could it be that my Windows is not activated (shhhh... I know)

Any ideas out there cause I'm lost.

This is what I'm seeming in Device Manager. The driver is from 2017 but when I try to update it says "Windows had determined that the best driver for this device is aldready installed. There may be better drivers on Windows Update or on the device manufacturer's website.

I would really appreciate any help you guys could provide.

I have this issue with both of my monitors from time to time. The easiest solution I've found so far is to physically disable my headphones in the "sound control panel". When you disable the headphones, there will be a second area for disabled devices. When you go to use the headphones again, just reenable them.

I say easiest solution, but that was the first one I found that worked for me. Someone on here might be able to teach us both an easier way though.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

I gave this a try since I'm definitely no longer using my old desk speakers... still nothing. And my headphones start working immediately when I re-enable them.

What cable are you using? Are you using any adapters?

I am using the HDMI cable included with the monitor and it's plugged directly into my graphics card.
