Bad luck with the silicon lottery?

For some reason when I put anything under 1.38v at 5GHz for my 9900k I will get stutter / the game wont be smooth with really weird delays. Since I am not very good at OCing I had to follow some youtube video, can someone please go over my OC and tell me if I did anything wrong?

Specs:

9900k at 5GHz

2080TI

32GB Trident Z at 3400

RM850X

Did you buy this 9900K after the 9900KS release or close to it? Intel did move all the best binning to sell at an overprice as the 9900KS so you could have indeed picked a lesser chip.

That said 1.38v is still acceptable voltage if cooling is fine.

I bought this a while back, just never really got into it till recently, one of the big concern is that why would my game be really laggy when I do 1.3v? Is the CPU not getting enough power so its throttling itself?

Can you set your voltage down to where you said you got stutters/lags (like, where, what vcore, etc), and this time, download HWinfo64, go to sensors only, and keep that running?

When you get your lags and stuff, please go to the bottom and see if it reports any "WHEA events" at the bottom of the sensors log.

Thank you.

Also please look in HWinfo64 for the cache ratio (or ring ratio), it should be right below the CPU speeds.  Because it says auto in your bios so I have no idea what you set there.

Yeah 5.1 is possible, but only @1.425 volts and that is just way too much for a little extra performance

The same as running it at 5.0. No gains. Unless you play cinebench.

@Falkentyne I hope this is what you are looking for.  Also only choppy / laggy input no WHEA errors

Yes that's correct.  Looks like the cache ratio is default and not causing a problem.
